Apply to be a Substitute Teacher

Thank you for your interest in becoming a certificated substitute for the R.N.R. Districts. Once approved, you'll be eligible to substitute at any of the four partner districts listed below.

Documents to Include (if applicable)

  • Temporary County Certificate (TCC) or a detailed copy of your permit/credential.
  • County-Wide Substitute Fingerprint Clearance notice provided by KCSOS (white ½ sheet).
  • TB verification.
  • Completed medical examination (applicable to first-time teachers or substitutes).
  • Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act Training Certificate.
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Certificate.
  • Information Necessary for Substitute Teaching form.
  • Additional documentation required by a district or KCSOS program(s).

The Temporary County Certificate (TCC) is a temporary authorization that allows you to work while your document is reviewed and granted by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Once granted, notify each district you applied to and provide a copy of the granted document.

Returning Substitutes

  • You must reapply via the link sent in the end-of-year email, or by paper application, and be current with KCSOS in order to be reactivated.
  • All subs are deactivated from Frontline at the end of the school year. Once you have reapplied and fulfilled all requirements, your account will be reactivated after processing.
  • If you are unable to log into your account after submitting your application, please wait a minimum of one week before contacting the district. You will receive a welcome email once your account has been reactivated.
